Dubai, UAE, March 8, 2007: Emaar Properties, a global leader in property development, is highlighting its commitment to Emiratisation at the Careers UAE 2007 Exhibition being held from March 13 to 15 at the Dubai International Convention Centre. Emaar will showcase its Afaq initiative, a four-part programme for identifying, nurturing and developing UAE national talent within the company.
Organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre in conjunction with TANMIA, Emirates National Development Programme (ENDP), Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and UAE University, Careers UAE 2007 is a high-caliber event that enables talented UAE nationals in all fields to meet directly with recruiters and hiring managers from top employers. Emaar has been participating in the event for the past 5 years and utlises the forum to recruit fresh UAE graduates and experienced professionals.
“As the premier forum for UAE talent scouting, Careers UAE 2007 plays in key role in strengthening our human resources by identifying local talent, understanding their perceptions of Emaar as an employer of choice and evaluating our position vis-à-vis other companies,” said Mr Ahmed Ali, Executive Director, HR & Organisation Effectiveness, Emaar Properties. “This year, we have our biggest presence at Careers UAE, and we will have a larger team of Emaar’s senior management professionals to interact with the visitors.”
Emaar’s Afaq (meaning, horizon) programme, launched in 2005, is a far-sighted human resources development plan whereby UAE national talent is identified, nurtured and rewarded through training, mentorship and professional development. “We have structured Afaq into four parts – Management Associate Programme, Leadership Programme, UAE Experienced Professionals and the Employer of Choice programme,” said Mariam Al Shamsi, Manager, Recruitment and National Development, Emaar Properties. “This four-pronged strategy gives continuity to the overall career growth plan of our staff members, helping them to advance to key managerial positions within Emaar in the UAE and internationally.”
Emaar has a presence in 15 countries internationally with several young UAE nationals heading the country operations. “Through our participation at Careers UAE, we are also reaching out to the experienced UAE professionals, who are looking at challenging job opportunities that will give them international exposure,” added Mr Ali. “With these initiatives, we want to benchmark Emaar as the Employer of Choice.”
Emaar’s pavilion at Careers UAE 2007 will give visitors an overview of the company’s human resources policy, the job opportunities for UAE nationals and career development plans. There will be provision for on-line application for key jobs. The stand (no. Z-C1) is located at Zabeel Hall.
Emaar has been in the forefront of the country’s Emiratisation drive and is a founding member of the Emirates National Development Programme.
