| | | Overview of Emaar | Incorporated in 1997, Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC is one of the world’s largest real-estate companies by market capitalisation. Emaar was listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) in March 2000 and became one of the first companies on the DFM to open its capital to foreign nationals. - In 2007, Emaar was included in the 11th Financial Times Global 500 ranking of the world’s largest companies in 462nd position
- In July 2007 it was assigned A- and A3 ratings, respectively, by Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investor Services.
- Emaar is also part of the Dow Jones Arabia Titans Index and S&P IFCG Extended Frontier 150 Index.
In June 2004, the Company split the share’s nominal value from AED 10 to AED 1 per share to enhance and protect the interests of the shareholders and the company by allowing the shares to be available and affordable to investors. In July 2005, Emaar doubled the capital of the Company through a 1:1 rights issue.
In line with its “Vision 2010”, Emaar is charting a new course of growth with a two-pronged strategy of geographical expansion and business segmentation. Replicating its successful business model in Dubai, Emaar is extending its expertise in creating master-planned communities to international markets beyond Dubai. Simultaneously, Emaar is developing new competencies in malls, hospitality and leisure, education, healthcare, finance and industry, which have evolved from its holistic approach to customer service and property development. Emaar is en route to becoming one of the most valuable companies in the world by 2010.
