How do I change my Screen resolution? The below instructions only apply to Windows XP/2000 operating systems. By following these instructions, you do so at your own risk and thereby absolve Emaar Properties PJSC of any problems caused to your machine by doing so.
Windows XP and 2000
Go to your desktop and right click on a blank area. Select 'Properties' from the menu that appears. In the 'Display Options' panel that comes up after you click on properties select the 'Settings' tab at the top of the panel.
You should then see something similar to this graphic. Use the Screen Resolution slider to select your new resolution. It is highlighted by the red arrow added to the screen shot above.
Once you have selected the resolution you want to change your screen to, click the 'OK' button.
A dialogue box will then popup and give you some instructions. Once you click 'OK' your display will change to the new resolution. You will have 15 seconds to decide whether to keep this new resolution or go back to the old one.
Remember you can always change it back via the same process at a later date. If you experience eye strain under very high resolutions you should always change back to the resolution you are comfortable with.
How do I use the Location map? You can “move” through the Location map by either:
- 'left-clicking' on the main map using your mouse and dragging.
- 'left-clicking' the scroll-box on the thumbnail map (provided on the top-right of the screen) using your mouse and dragging, this will in turn “move” the main map.
Additionally, links are provided below the thumbnail-map to highlight areas of interest in Dubai. You can also hide the thumbnail-map using the show/hide option.
How do I use the property search? The Property Search allows users to search through the various Emaar properties by using five types of criteria (‘Type of Home’, ‘Community’, ‘Number of Bedrooms’, ‘From Price’, & ‘To Price’). How do I view the Virtual Reality tours? Emaar.com provides Virtual Reality tours in three formats: QuickTime, Macromedia Shockwave, & Immervision Java. If you have one of the following players installed on your system, the tour will automatically load on your computer. If not, you will be directed to a download page where you will be prompted to install one of the above three players. We recommend that you either install the QuickTime or the Macromedia Shockwave player.
How do I navigate through the Virtual Reality tours? All Virtual Reality players provide clickable buttons on the bottom left hand corner that allow users to navigate from one room to another. In addition, users using the QuickTime and Shockwave players have the option of clicking on the Floor Plan button in the top right hand corner and then using the red “hotspots” in the Floor plans to navigate from one room to another.
What are the instructions for using the QuickTime player? To navigate within the QuickTime player, simply click and drag with your cursor around the movie window. You can zoom in or out with the magnifying glass tool in your QuickTime player; alternatively, hold down the Control key and the left mouse button to zoom out, or Shift and the left button to zoom in. How do I know what Virtual Reality player I am using?

- Right-clicking anywhere in this player provides you with a menu where the last menu item is ‘About Shockwave Player’
- The Immervision player has a button with a ‘?’ icon in the bottom left hand corner of the screen
What is the difference between high resolution tours vs. low resolution tours? Virtual reality tours are available in two formats; high resolution and low resolution. Files sizes for high resolution tours vary between 500kB – 1mB while low resolution tour file sizes vary between 200KB – 500KB.
In general, we recommend users with broadband connections (i.e. Cable modems, DSL modems, ISDN connections, etc) view the high resolution tours while those using low-speed connections like dial-up modems use the low resolution tours.
Why can’t I view the Virtual Reality tours? If you can not view the Virtual Reality tours then you most probably:
- Do not have one of the three VR players installed on your computer – in order to resolve this issue, please download either QuickTime or Macromedia Shockwave
- Are browsing this site from your corporate network – in order to resolve this issue, you would need to speak to your company’s IT Department.
What player should I install to view the Virtual Reality tours? Emaar.com recommends users either install the QuickTime or the Macromedia Shockwave plug-in to view the Virtual Reality tours.
Why can’t I install a Virtual Reality tour player? There could be many reasons for this but the most common is that you are browsing from a computer in a corporate network and therefore do not have the appropriate privileges to install software on your machine.
Why do I need Flash? Macromedia Flash is the software that FlipCast is built on, as it has 98% market share compared to other streaming software in the market. Most of the internet users will be able to experience Emaar videos through FlipCast, using Flash.
Which Flash plugin do I need? Macromedia Flash plugin version 7.0 or higher is required. This can be downloaded from www.macromedia.com/flash
How can I see a specific video? FlipCast offers full text search through the Emaar video library. Just simply click on 'Search' and enter a word or multiple words to search for the video that you want to view. A successful search returns the number of videos found matching your search criteria, and by clicking on the thumbnail the selected video is being played.
What are PDFs? PDF (Portable Document Format) is a file format that has captured all the elements of a printed document as an electronic image that you can view, navigate, print, or forward to someone else.
Why do we use PDFs? Emaar.com uses PDFs, because the PDF format ensures that published material will be reliably displayed on the different operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Linux, etc) in use today.
How can I view PDFs? All Users can view and print a PDF file using the free Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader, from the Adobe web site. Please click here to download the free Acrobat Reader from the Adobe Web Site.
